Bavaria goes all the way with the valued 0.0% IPA and introduces a new campaign
The first year of the alcohol-free IPA, brewed by the Lieshout brewer, was such a great success that Bavaria will continue this year. The tasty 0.0% IPA is appreciated by the market and becoming available in more and more places. The 0.0% IPA in a bottle can already be found on the shelf at all retailers and, starting March, this thirst-quencher will also be available in cans. Alcohol-free IPA is also increasingly being offered in the hospitality industry. First of all, Bavaria expects at least 200 sports canteens to tap the non-alcoholic beer in 2020. In addition, connoisseurs can choose a refreshing alternative during an evening out, because the 0.0% IPA is - since this year - available at various music venues.
Prize-winning 0.0% IPA
The success of Bavaria 0.0% IPA is undeniable. This alcohol-free beer with a fresh and hoppy character has been awarded as Product of the Year 2019-2020 in the category alcohol-free beer and Chosen Product of the Year 2019-2020. For this last award, market researcher Nielsen asked 5,000 Dutch consumers for their opinion, resulting in Bavaria's 0.0% IPA as the best non-alcoholic beer. In addition, the IPA has won prizes at the Dutch Beer Challenge, the first professional beer competition in the Netherlands. This prize was awarded by 47 independent beer experts who tasted no less than 441 beers blind.
Bavaria 0.0% IPA also appeals to critical beer tasters in beer country Belgium. After a blind test in the best Brewpub in Belgium, beer connoisseurs were pleasantly surprised by the full flavour of the IPA. In fact, the connoisseurs didn't realize they were drinking an alcohol-free IPA. You can check out the video of the visit to the best Brewpub in Belgium here. With this campaign and the prizes won, Bavaria strengthens its role as a pioneer in the field of non-alcoholic beers. In 1978, Bavaria was one of the first brewers of non-alcoholic beer in the Netherlands and has, since then, been at the forefront of the non-alcoholic beer market with numerous introductions.
At the head office in Lieshout the month of January will be dedicated to Dry January and Bavaria 0.0% IPA will be highlighted. Peer Swinkels, CEO of Swinkels Family Brewers: "We are extremely proud that we are able to innovate time and again in this category. Our brewers have truly earned this recognition. Responsible enjoyment plays a major role in our society and we find it important that our employees are also aware of this. That's why we offer our employees, entirely voluntarily, the opportunity to participate in 'Dry January' - a whole month alcohol-free. This means that we will toast with Bavaria 0.0% IPA during our New Year's drinks and motivate participants with a 0.0% beer package from our portfolio. Participants can also win a subscription to use our sports facilities. We will also inform employees through courses about the effect of alcohol on your body, in order to increase awareness of this topic. Obviously, I'm also participating in Dry January!”
Campaign
The national campaign for Bavaria 0.0% IPA consists of a tag-on to the TV commercial, displays and promotions on the shop floor, online videos on Bavaria's social media channels and the website. Sampling will take place at various supermarkets in The Netherlands to invite consumers to taste our alcohol-free IPA.
